1. Who we are and how to contact us
AQL is operated under the trading name Hereaftercorp (we, us or our). This policy applies to the AQL iPhone app, its companion widgets and Apple Watch app, the AQL website and support correspondence. It explains our handling of personal information; it does not replace the privacy notices of independent services you choose to use.
For privacy requests or complaints, contact Admin@hereaftercorp.com with “AQL privacy” in the subject line. This is also our support address. You do not need an active membership to make a privacy request. The policy was last updated on 12 October 2026.
2. Your device and network services
Your journal, private Member Reads drafts, saved first name and practice records are stored on your device. AQL does not require a separate account, email sign-in or social login. We cannot recover these local records if you lose your device or delete the app unless you have kept your own backup.
AQL is not entirely offline. Prayer-calendar requests, audio streaming and downloads, Apple purchases and external links involve network services. Those services receive information necessary for the request, including connection information. Religious reading and practice choices may reveal sensitive information; we do not use them to build advertising profiles.
3. No separate AQL account
The production app does not collect an email address for sign-in, request verification codes, create an AQL authentication account or send session information to Supabase or Resend. Apple handles the purchase and restoration of paid access through the Apple Account used for the App Store. AQL does not receive your Apple Account password.
A first name entered during onboarding is a local display preference. It is not registration with Hereaftercorp. Completing onboarding and recording practice do not send an account profile or practice history to us.
An earlier development preview offered email accounts. Updating preserves existing local files and removes the obsolete sign-in credential from this device; it does not silently delete a previously created server record. If you used that preview, contact Admin@hereaftercorp.com to request deletion of any retained preview account. Those records are not needed for production access or purchase restoration.
4. Journal, learning and practice information
The app stores the optional name and intention you enter, your preferences, chosen language, bookmarks, Quran reading position, saved readings, prayer settings, completion records, dhikr and dua counts, streaks and reminder settings on your device. Your journal may contain reflections, dates, study notes, Arabic practice, links and selected images. Unfinished drafts may also be saved locally.
Member Reads currently provides private drafts on your device, including titles, pen names, text, source notes and chosen images. There is no public submission, community feed or messaging service in this release. Design examples are not posts submitted by real members.
We do not upload journal or draft contents to our servers, use them for advertising or send them to a generative AI service. If you deliberately include private material in an email to us, the copy you send becomes support correspondence and is handled as described below.
5. Prayer calendars and Qiblah
Prayer calendars are requested from AlAdhan at api.aladhan.com using your configured city and country, calculation method, Asr setting and the requested month and year. This discloses your chosen general location, IP address and normal request information to that provider. Your journal, name and practice history are not included. The returned timetable is cached on your device.
When you grant location permission for Qiblah, AQL uses location and compass heading to calculate direction on your device. This feature does not upload GPS coordinates. AQL does not request background location access. You can use manual coordinates or change location permission in iOS Settings. Declining location permission does not require you to give up unrelated app features.
6. Quran and dua audio
Streaming, previewing or downloading a recording connects to its audio host. The library uses hosts including cdn.islamic.network, cdn.mp3quran.net and www.hisnmuslim.com. The selected recording address, IP address and connection information are received by that host and its delivery infrastructure. A recording request can reveal your reciter, chapter or supplication choice. Playback queues may load upcoming audio to reduce gaps.
Downloaded audio is stored locally for offline use. Bundled text, published Quran translations, artwork and the reading library do not upload your reading activity to Hereaftercorp. Bundled adhan audio plays locally. Audio hosts operate their own infrastructure; deleting AQL data on your device does not erase their server logs.
7. Photos, notifications, widgets and Apple Watch
The system photo picker gives AQL access to the images you select. The app stores copies for your journal or private drafts. It does not require unrestricted access to your photo library, microphone or camera. Deleting an imported copy in AQL does not delete the original from Photos.
Reminders are scheduled on your device after you allow notifications. This release does not use an AQL remote-push service. A reminder title can appear on the Lock Screen, including a journal entry title if you use it for a reminder. Widgets and system audio controls can expose prayer city, reading position or recitation details to anyone who can see your screen.
The iPhone app shares limited data with its widgets through an on-device shared container. With a paired Apple Watch, WatchConnectivity transfers the dial finish, change timestamps, prayer city, time zone, timetable and purchase-access status to the Watch. It does not transfer your journal or email address. Watch complications may display prayer information. Remove widgets or complications and adjust notification previews if you prefer not to display it.
8. Purchases and membership
Apple handles App Store payment and billing information. AQL uses StoreKit product, verified transaction and entitlement information to recognise paid access and restore eligible purchases. Production purchases do not require an AQL account identifier. An account token attached to an earlier development transaction is not used to block an otherwise valid Apple entitlement. We do not receive your full card number or bank account details.
Apple separately processes purchase records, device services, backups and any diagnostics you choose to share under its own terms. Deleting AQL or local personal data does not delete Apple’s transaction records or cancel an Apple subscription.
9. Website, email and links
The AQL website does not add advertising pixels, behavioural analytics scripts, a newsletter database or a contact-form database. Our site is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. Hosting and security services process requests such as IP address, requested page, browser information, timestamp and response information to deliver and protect the site. Access-controlled previews may also require the hosting platform’s sign-in and essential session cookies. Those are separate from an AQL app account.
Email links open your chosen email application. Nothing is submitted by the website merely because you select the link. If you send a message, we receive your email address, message, attachments and ordinary email metadata through our business email service. We use these to answer your enquiry, investigate problems, handle rights requests and keep an appropriate record of the outcome. Send only the information needed for your request.
Saved Pinterest, Cosmos, YouTube or other links remain local until you open or share them. AQL does not connect to your social account or import its collection using a social login. Following a link connects you to an independent service whose own cookies, privacy practices and terms apply.
10. Purposes, consent and sensitive information
We use purchase information to recognise your entitlement, network services to provide the features you request, and correspondence to provide support or meet legal obligations. Optional permissions are used only for the relevant feature. We do not make access to unrelated paid features conditional on location or photo-library permission.
Religious beliefs, journal reflections and some content choices can be sensitive personal information. Where the law requires specific consent for our processing, we must obtain it; acceptance of general terms is not a substitute. You can withdraw optional permissions in device settings, stop optional network features and request deletion of information we hold. Withdrawal does not undo processing already lawfully carried out.
Where European or UK data protection law applies, the ordinary purposes above may rely on performance of our agreement, compliance with law, your consent or legitimate interests in proportionate service security and support. Any special-category processing also requires an applicable additional legal condition. We do not treat acceptance of these general policies as blanket consent to collect sensitive information.
11. Sharing and international processing
Information is disclosed to the providers needed for the functions described in this policy, to authorised people handling support, and where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect legal rights or investigate misuse. We seek to limit disclosures to what is needed. If ownership of the service changes, any transfer of personal information must respect applicable law and this policy, with notice where required.
Apple, website infrastructure, the support email service, prayer-calendar providers and audio providers may process information internationally. Some independent providers have not published sufficient information for us to state every processing location or fixed log-retention period. Contact us for the current provider assessment. The production app does not depend on an AQL authentication database or a transactional sign-in email provider.
We do not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, use cross-app tracking or run an advertising SDK in this release. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you solely through automated profiling. Any future analytics, cloud journal or public community feature requires a new privacy assessment and appropriate notice before activation.
12. Retention, deletion and security
There is no production AQL authentication account to retain or delete. Support correspondence, website security logs, independent provider records and any earlier preview-account records have their own retention criteria. Records are kept only for the relevant service, security or legal purpose. Deletion is not a representation that every provider log or backup is immediately overwritten.
We retain support correspondence only for as long as needed to resolve the matter, deal with follow-up issues and satisfy applicable legal requirements. The relevant criteria include the nature of the issue, unresolved disputes, security needs and mandatory record-keeping. We do not retain information merely because it might be useful indefinitely. If a legal hold applies, the affected information is limited to that purpose and removed when retention is no longer required.
Local records remain until you delete them, use Your data to remove personal data or remove the app’s data. Exports, files you share, Apple device backups and copies on another device are outside an in-app deletion’s reach. The Data & retention policy and Data deletion guide explain these distinctions.
The app uses operating-system file protection for journal files and HTTPS for service requests. Encrypted journal exports require your chosen passphrase. These protections reduce risk but do not make any device or service invulnerable. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will assess and make notifications required by the laws that apply.
13. Your rights and complaints
Contact Admin@hereaftercorp.com to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information we hold, to withdraw consent or to make a privacy complaint. Depending on the law that applies, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing or obtain a portable copy. You can authorise a representative where the law permits. We do not charge simply for making a request.
We may request proportionate information to verify identity and prevent unauthorised disclosure. Do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are needed and provide an appropriate method. We cannot supply local journal records that have never been sent to us. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, explain any lawful refusal and tell you about available complaint routes.
If you are dissatisfied, reply to our response asking for a privacy review. You may also contact your local privacy regulator. Where Australian privacy law applies, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner provides complaint guidance at oaic.gov.au. You do not lose statutory rights by using our internal process.
14. Children and updates
AQL is a general-audience worship, reading and journaling app. It is not a children’s social network. A young person who cannot validly agree to the service or a purchase should use it with a parent or guardian and any consent required by local law. We do not request dates of birth or knowingly solicit children’s information for advertising. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied information inappropriately.
We will update the date and wording when these practices change. Material changes will be notified appropriately, and new uses that require consent will not begin on the assumption that continued use alone supplies it. Earlier versions can be requested from support.
